    Blanks faq

Open-end yarn (common on some budget tees) feels a bit coarser; ringspun yarn is spun to make the fibers smoother and stronger; combed ringspun goes further by combing out impurities for an extra-soft, tight knit (e.g., BELLA+CANVAS “Airlume” jerseys). Softer yarns generally give a smoother print surface.

Garment-dyed pieces are sewn first, then dyed and washed. That’s what gives Comfort Colors the broken-in feel, minimal at-home shrinkage, and the slightly varied, vintage color tone customers love; some shade variance from batch to batch is normal.

CVC usually means a cotton-rich 60/40 cotton-poly jersey (Next Level’s classic blend). Note that exact ratios can vary by brand and style (e.g., some heathers are 52/48), which can affect hand-feel and how inks lay.

Side-seamed tees (common on BELLA+CANVAS) hold a more retail/modern shape. Many Gildan classics (e.g., 5000) are tubular/seamless body with a more classic fit. Check the product page/size chart for each style.

Most mainstream blanks are pre-shrunk or washed. For example, Gildan 5000 is 100% pre-shrunk cotton; Comfort Colors tees are garment-dyed and washed for “almost no shrinkage at home.” Always follow care labels for best results.

A tear-away label is a tag designed to remove cleanly so you can add your own neck print/label—great for branding. Many popular blanks offer tear-away options (including numerous Gildan 5000 variants).

Rabbit Skins (LAT Apparel) highlights CPSIA compliance and publishes kid-specific specs/size charts—useful for shops decorating baby bodysuits and youth styles.
